Objects and Their Stories: Quartz
On view June 30 through November 11, 2018
One object leads to many stories. In an exciting new gallery experience, one significant object or artwork from the Museum’s collection becomes the centerpiece, displayed with all the diverse stories it inspires. Visitors are able to explore its history and context, as well as seeing related objects from the collection.
From June 30 through September 23, the wide and varied uses of the mineral quartz are explained, from its use in the manufacture of Wedgwood pottery and other ceramics to computer components. Amethyst is one of the types of quartz used in jewelry, and the flint used in making arrowheads and spear points is also a type of quartz.
