2018 Summer Camps

The Berkshire Museum presents an exciting variety of summer camp offerings, including hands-on experiences in robotics, animation, forensics, natural science, and even magic!

Early bird registration for Museum members opens Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Registration opens to the public on March 10, 2018.

Become a member today to take advantage of early bird registration and save $25 on each summer camp – and enjoy free Museum admission all year!

Cost:
Half-day Camps $150 ($125 members) per week
Full-day Camps $250 ($225 members) per week

Grades Pre-K to Kindergarten

Tinker Camp

August 6 to 10, 9 am to noon
Is your child a young inventor? Join Tinker Camp, specially designed for young innovators and creators. This camp is full of engineering and design activities and exercises that focus on various early childhood milestones such as creative problem solving, collaboration, and perseverance.

August 13 to 17, 9 am to noon
Become a kitchen scientist and make crazy concoctions with everyday items. Learn the twisted chemistry of the common ingredients that your kitchen cabinets hold. All experiments are kid-safe.

Lego Camp

June 25 to 29, 9 am to noon
Get ready for some fun with Legos! Through simple, open-ended challenges, together we’ll build cars, cities, spaceships and more! There will be plenty of time for creative free-building, too.

Pahat’s Curiosity Squad

July 9 to 13, 9 am to noon
Calling all curious travelers! Join a week-long adventure full of stories, art, and games from cultures across the globe, present and past. How do you write your name in Egyptian hieroglyphics? Why do we shake hands to greet someone? How do you make a mummy like Pahat in the Curiosity Incubator? Find out as part of Pahat’s Curiosity Squad!

Pond Camp

July 16 to 20, 9 am to noon
Make a personal connection with the animals living in our own backyards. Listen to the sounds of local wildlife, find tracks, spot turtles, frogs, crayfish, water bugs, herons, and more! This camp session includes two field trips to a local pond to observe animals in their natural habitat, weather permitting.

Robot Olympics II

August 13 to 17, 9 am to noon
Have you already tried Robot Olympics? Robot Olympics II is the next step! Work with your team to build a robot and see its skills in new, more challenging tests of speed, agility, and endurance. Each day will feature new challenges, robot designs, and friendly competitions. Prior robot experience recommended. Space is limited to 10 campers.

Animation Camp II

August 13 to 17, 1 to 4 pm
It’s time to take the next step as an animator! Campers who have attended Animation Camp in the past will develop new stories, characters, and scenery, and produce their own stop-motion short. All of the animated creations will be featured in an animation festival held on the last day of camp. Prior animation experience recommended

Magic Camp

June 25 to 29, 9 am to noon
Learn the art of magic and amaze your friends and family! Under the guidance of Eric Thee Illusionist, campers will practice basic card tricks, study sleight-of-hand, and experiment with the common tools and props of a professional magician.

Robot Olympics I

June 25 to 29, 1 to 4 pm

Cooking Camp

July 2 to 6, 9 am to 4 pm 
Plant and harvest your own veggies and learn how to be a chef! Campers will learn the basics of caring for a garden, harvesting vegetables, and using those ingredients to make delicious meals. No prior experience with gardening or cooking necessary.

Animation I

July 30 to August 3, 1 to 4 pm
It’s time for some innovative animation! Develop your own stories and create a stop-motion mini-movie from storyboard to post-production. Families are invited to an animation festival held on the last day of camp.

Movie Camp

August 6 to 10, 9 am to 4 pm
Calling all budding writers, actors, and directors—let’s make a movie! From conception to the rolling credits, campers are in on the action. On the last day, friends and family are invited to the premiere showing of the film.

CIT Program

The Berkshire Museum is pleased to offer a limited number of counselor-in-training positions for the 2018 season, open to campers age 13+. Acting as peer mentors, CITs will have the opportunity to participate in all camp activities, while assisting camp counselors with set-up, clean-up, classroom management, and other projects as needed.

$150 per week for full day camp enrollment

Please note that camperships are not currently available for the CIT program.

Registration Information

Half-day Camps $150 ($125 members) per week
Full-day Camps $250 ($225 members) per week

Registration includes a $50 non-refundable administrative fee. Partial refunds (minus the administrative fee) are available for cancellations up to four weeks prior to the first day of camp.
No refunds will be given for cancellations within four weeks of the first day of camp.
Campers should be entering the indicated camp grade in September 2018.

Make it a full day!

Combine a morning and afternoon session for a full day of camp, and we’ll provide a supervised lunchtime (campers bring their own bag lunches).
