What is a PechaKucha?

PechaKucha Night is a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit chat”), it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It’s a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace. It also makes for a lot of fun and a lot of laughs!

First Fridays Artswalk

Celebrate the opening of Their Stories: Oral Histories from the NAACP and BerkshireNow: Pat Hogan free of charge during Pittsfield’s February First Fridays Artswalk!

On the second floor, visitors to Their Stories: Oral Histories from the NAACP are invited to explore the history of African Americans in the Berkshires and hear compelling stories from today as recorded by leaders from the local African-American community and the NAACP Berkshire chapter. This exhibition is presented in partnership with the Housatonic Heritage Oral History Center at Berkshire Community College.

Downstairs, fourteen works by local artist Pat Hogan are on display in BerkshireNow: Pat Hogan. This solo exhibition manifests chaos and order – things lost and found – through the artist’s masterful use of texture, color, and collage. Hogan’s mixed-media painting Winter, which won Best in Show in 2018’s Art of the Hills exhibition is included in this exemplary solo show.

Artist Pat Hogan and collaborators on Their Stories will be present to celebrate the opening of each exhibition.

Free and open to the community as part of First Fridays Artswalk.
