Hear the stories behind what awaits us on stage this summer at some of the Berkshires’ premiere venues, as well as some award-winning “outliers.” Each week we’ll hear from the movers and shakers at Jacob’s Pillow, the Berkshire Opera, the Berkshire Theatre Group, Barrington Stage, and more, as well as our annual Critics Roundtable.

Led by a Museum educator, children 18 months to 3 years old explore the Museum with their caregivers and learn through songs, stories, scavenger hunts, play time, and more. Older and younger siblings are welcome.

Inspired by the Berkshire Museum’s popular rotating exhibition, “Objects and Their Stories,” join the museum’s Chief Experience Officer and guest staff for an in-depth exploration into the Berkshire Museum’s collection. Each session will feature multiple objects and the details pertaining to their geographic, spacial and iconographic relationships.

Be a kitchen scientist with cool, hands-on, kid-safe experiments using ingredients found in most pantries. This week children will make their own “seed bombs” that can be used to sprout native wildflowers on bare patches of dirt and help bees and other pollinators thrive!

OLLI Distinguished Speaker Series: Dr. Ben Liptzin

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) presents a series of talks with Berkshire-based cultural leaders and influencers.

Dr. Ben Liptzin: Successful Aging

Dr. Ben Liptzin is Professor of Psychiatry Emeritus at Tufts University School of Medicine.  For 25 years he was Chair of Psychiatry at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.  Prior to that he was Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA and Director of the Geriatric Education Center at Harvard Medical School.  He received the Jack Weinberg Award in Geriatric Psychiatry from the American Psychiatric Association and the Distinguished Faculty Award from Tufts.  He has published more than 100 journal articles and book chapters.

Dr. Liptzin is a graduate of Yale College and the University of Rochester, School of Medicine. He has served on the Board of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, and the Springfield Symphony.  He currently serves on the Board of the Aston Magna Foundation and the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center and is Chair of the Development Committee for Berkshire OLLI.

Explore Leonardo’s imaginative inventions at a reduced ticket price during extended evening hours every Saturday night. Use cranks, levers, and pulleys to test da Vinci’s mechanisms after family dinner,  bring your date to see a wooden battle tank, or spend some time marveling at flying machines before catching a Little Cinema screening.

Discovery Tank Program

Meet the residents of the Berkshire Museum Aquarium’s tide pool tank in this guided, hands-on educational program for all ages. This drop-in experience will be led by a member of the Museum’s staff who can answer your questions and help you interact with the exciting sea creatures in the tank.

Included in regular Museum admission.
