Artists share personal stories, observations, moments of inspiration, and hope, to create a broad poetic tapestry with a goal that the resulting “conversation” will make us stronger and help us find a way forward.

 

Age in America

Poets of a certain age / all ages / ageless, may or may not act their age when we dive into what age means in America. If age is just a number, let’s do the math.

Inspired by the Berkshire Museum’s popular rotating exhibition, “Objects and Their Stories,” join the museum’s Chief Experience Officer and guest staff for an in-depth exploration into the Berkshire Museum’s collection. Each session will feature multiple objects and the details pertaining to their geographic, spacial and iconographic relationships.

The Berkshire Museum will remain open until 8 pm as part of Downtown Pittsfield’s Third Thursday street festival. Berkshire County residents are invited to explore the Museum’s galleries from 5 to 8 pm free of charge during this monthly extended-hours event. Members of the Museum’s Experience Team will host a family-friendly activity on the front lawn.

Included in regular Museum admission, free for Berkshire county residents.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) presents a series of talks with Berkshire-based cultural leaders and influencers.

Jeremy Yudkin, Ph.D. : Papa Haydn. Without Him — No Classical Music

Jeremy Yudkin is Professor of Music and co-Director of the Center for Beethoven Research at Boston University, and his interests are wide and varied, including everything from medieval music to the music of the Beatles. Jeremy has written 8 books: on medieval music and manuscripts, on a sixteenth-century music primer, and on jazz. Helping all people understand music is one of his greatest passions. He is a compelling, lively, and friendly speaker.

$15 general admission; Berkshire Museum and OLLI members $10.
