[Pittsfield, MA]—Berkshire Museum and the Berkshire Film and Media Commission (BFMC), two area leaders in creative and innovative thinking, have teamed up to offer a weekend-long workshop for students ages 14 to 18 beginning November 30 and running until December 2. The High School Film Workshop, which will take place at Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, was conceived as a hands-on course for students interested in film production. The workshops are $100, $75 for Museum members. Dinner will be provided Saturday night, students will need to bring snacks and lunches all other days. Registration is required, call 413.443.7171 ext. 10.

Over the course of the workshop, student participants will make their own films, and perform all essential roles on each other’s films, under the guidance of local film industry professionals. The workshop will conclude with a public screening of student work on Sunday, December 2 at 5 p.m.

“Our partnership with the Berkshire Film and Media Commission helps us carry out our mission to spark creativity and innovative thinking by engaging with young adults interested in the creative economy,” says Berkshire Museum executive director Van Shields.

Over the weekend course, students will receive instruction in all aspects of filmmaking, including concept development, scriptwriting, storyboarding, camera, lighting, sound, and post-production. Local film professionals will guide students through the creation of a short film, helping participants learn new skills and bring their vision to the screen.
