Visiting
the World
in Miniature is like going on safari. From
the Northern Tundra to the Amazon Jungle, this gallery provides
a glimpse of the flora and fauna of diverse habitats from
around the world, with animals shown in 1/10 scale. This gallery
houses one of the largest collections of miniature dioramas
created by Louis Paul Jonas Studios in Hudson, NY, which also
created the famous series of life-size model dinosaurs for
the 1964-65 World's Fair, and produced models for many major
museums around the world. Some of the diorama backgrounds
were painted by Matthew Kalmenoff, the artist known for his
work on dioramas in the American Museum of Natural History
in New York City.
