Prompted by its legacy of keeping and promoting art, history, and natural history coupled with a mission to make inspiring, educational connections among the same, Berkshire Museum launched The Berkshire Award in 2013 to honor people who live in the greater Berkshires who have made a contribution to creating, keeping and/or promoting our artistic, historical, and natural heritage.

The Berkshire Award celebrates people such as artists, writers, journalists, musicians, performers, historians, naturalists, scholars, preservationists and/or those who have advanced and/or supported the arts, historic preservation, environmental conservation, etc., whose contributions are deemed significant. Designed to recognize doers as well as supporters, The Berkshire Award will honor those who have quietly made such contributions without much recognition, as well as those who are well known throughout the community.
